Local 391 Immediately Corrects UPS Dues Deduction Glitch
Updated On: Aug 20, 2020
Local 391 Secretary-Treasurer Vernon Gammon issued a Local 391 Union Notice on August 20, 2020 in regards to a glitch in the program the IBT uses to automatically deduct dues for members employed at UPS. The notice has been mailed to members, posted on social media, and emailed to registered members (UPS) of this website. (The notice is also attached at the bottom of this article.)
In January 2020, after complaints from members regarding their union dues, the Local Union implemented a program, designed by the IBT for UPS. This program automatically deducts dues at the correct rate based on your wage rate. This program ensures that each and every member has the appropriate dues rate deducted.
As you are aware, there was a wage increase for UPS on August 1, 2020. Unfortunately, this program began deducting a higher dues rate based on the increased wages. However, per the IBT Constitution, Article X, Section 3, union dues are to be increased the first day of second (2nd) calendar month following a wage increase.
This glitch is in the process of being corrected. Any overages paid during the month of August 2020 will be adjusted on or before August 28, 2020.
If for some reason you do not see the adjustment on August 28th or if you have any questions, please contact the Local Union’s bookkeeper Suzie Edwards (336-668-0441 ext. 207).
